Accessibility statement

Benchmark Pavers LLC wants every visitor to be able to read this site, understand what we install, and reach us about a project. That includes people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, enlarge type, or rely on high contrast.

What standard do we hold this site to?

We measure this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, at Level AA. Those guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium and are the benchmark most United States accessibility law points to. Level AA is the practical target for a business site. It covers color contrast, keyboard operation, text alternatives for images, clear page structure, and forms that announce their own errors.

We treat that standard as a floor rather than a finish line. Conformance is not a certificate you hang on the wall once. Browsers change, content gets added, and a page that passed last spring can quietly slip below the line. So we recheck.

What have we actually done?

The work on this site is specific rather than aspirational. Every page opens with a Skip to Main Content link, so someone navigating by keyboard can jump straight past the header instead of tabbing through the whole services menu on every visit. Page content sits inside a proper main landmark. Each page carries one H1, and the headings below it descend in order rather than skipping levels for visual effect.

Every image carries alt text that describes what it shows. On the gallery and project photos that means naming the work, a paver patio or a retaining wall, instead of leaving a camera file name in place. Purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise. The phone, clock, and location icons in the footer are marked decorative too, because the text beside them already says the same thing and hearing it twice helps nobody.

Text and button colors are checked against the background they actually sit on, at a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1. Links inside body copy are underlined as well as colored, so color is never the only thing marking a link. The contact form labels each field and reports its errors in text.

Where do we know this site falls short?

Being straight about the gaps is more useful than claiming a clean sweep. Parts of this site load content from other companies, and we do not control how that content is built. The Google reCAPTCHA check on our contact form, the embedded map, and our social media links are all third party. We picked accessible options where a choice existed, and we will replace a component that turns out to be a barrier. We cannot rewrite someone else code.

Our photo gallery uses a lightbox to enlarge images. It can be operated by keyboard and closes with the Escape key. If you find a state where keyboard focus gets stuck inside it, please tell us, because that is exactly the kind of fault an automated scan walks straight past.

How do we test?

Automated tools catch roughly a third of accessibility problems. That is genuinely useful and nowhere close to sufficient. We run automated checks across every page on this site using the axe engine, covering WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 at levels A and AA. Then we test what a tool cannot judge: whether you can reach every link and button with the Tab key, whether the focus outline stays visible as you move, whether the reading order still makes sense, and whether the alt text describes the photo rather than repeating the page title.

We recheck after any substantial change to the site, and we fix what we find instead of logging it for a later that never arrives.

What should you do if something does not work?

Call us. If a page, a form, or a photo on this site is blocking you, we would rather hear it directly than have you give up and go somewhere else. Reach Benchmark Pavers LLC at (352) 651-6077 during business hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm, or send a note through our contact page.

It helps if you can tell us which page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using. We will confirm that we received your report, then tell you what we are doing about it and roughly when.

Can you still get a quote if the website is the barrier?

Yes. Nothing on this site is the only route to us. If the form is difficult, call the number above and we will take your details over the phone. If you would rather talk in person, our office is at 127 North Dundee Way, Inverness, FL 34450. The free estimate and consultation is the same offer whichever way you reach us, and nobody has to use this website to get one.

Will this statement change?

Yes, as the site does. When we finish a round of remediation, or add a new section of the site, we update this page and change the date at the top. If you want to know where a specific issue you reported currently stands, call and ask.
